Faceted Search and patch 12.0.6317.5000

Jul 17, 2008 at 3:08 PM
Hi,

we implemented Faceted Search within our company and patched last day with Enterprise search. Since this time we got an error where Faceted Search was implementet. When I checked I saw within my site collection all scopes but the message that no item was available. On other site collections no problem.

When I pushed the faceted search from the site away no result. After I retracted the solution everythink was ok. Search is working now.

Does anyone know about this problem?

Greetings
Timo

Can you provide details on what you've patched and what are the error messages in the Event log

Hi,

This dll could not be loaded:
Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a646907c4a695009"

I tried to redeploy right now and I get following error:

Feature '4ad6146d-6ada-4931-ab81-0e179de7008e' could not be installed because the loading of event receiver assembly "Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a646907c4a695009" failed: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=a646907c4a695009' or one of its dependencies. WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

Hope this helps you

For the fixes (we use MOSS 2007 SP1, Blackout Fixes, and this build 12.0.6317.5000). English. This doesn't matter here ;). We got this errors when we applied the Blackout fixes and the build 6317!

Hi,

We had a similar problem but we overcame it by copying the following dll's into the cab file:

Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch.dll
Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch.Receiver.dll

and installing them from there. We also restarted the IIS and deployed it again. That managed to fix our problem.

I noticed that you never provided the pre-bind state information of your error message but here is ours below:

We have the following error when we want to add faceted search as a web part:

Unable to add selected web part(s).
Search Facets: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Another thing to try: copy Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch.Receiver.dll  into the GAC and see if it's found. To get the dll, rename .wsp file into .cab so you can open it as archive.

For web part display problems I suggest first to check if they are permissions related. That's assuming that EntLib is installed and configured correctly.
 Set <trust level="Full" originUrl="" /> in web.config and look for errors.
