Hi Hikmer,

Please could you provide some more information on what it is you're actually trying to do?  By default you should have FileExtension and ContentType metadata properties with default mappings already created within MOSS and mapped to crawled properties, e.g.

Property Name: ContentType
Mapping: ows_ContentType(Text)

Property Name: FileExtension
Mapping: FileExtension(Text), ows_File_x0020_Type(Text), ows_FileType(Text)

Again, FileExtension is a default property that you should already have created.  You will probably want to change the facets that you display, from the default, which involves editing the XML file within the web part properties.  You should look at the default example and read the setup guide.

If you have any further problems then please post another reply

Thanks,

My point is that you should have a fileextension in your Facet Column way before you add a language facet?  How many people do you think want to see langauge before file type?  I can't imagine many....

Here is my code, it works fairly well.  Needed to exclude asp and aspx files.

 <Column Name="fileextension" DisplayName="File Type" OrderBy="Hits" TotalResults="5" DefaultImage="STS_ListItem16.gif" >
      <Mappings>
        <Mapping Match="MSG" DisplayName="Email" Image="iceml.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="PDF" DisplayName="Pdf" Image="pdficon.gif"/>
        <Mapping Match="TXT" DisplayName="Text" Image="ictxt.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="DOC" DisplayName="Word" Image="icdoc.gif"/>
        <Mapping Match="DOCX" DisplayName="Word" Image="icdocx.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="PPTX" DisplayName="PowerPoint 12" Image="icpptx.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="PPT" DisplayName="PowerPoint" Image="icppt.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="XLSX" DisplayName="Excel 12" Image="icxlsx.gif"/>
        <Mapping Match="XLS" DisplayName="Excel" Image="icxls.gif"/>
        <Mapping Match="PUB" DisplayName="Publisher" Image="icpub.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="VSD" DisplayName="Visio" Image="icvsd.gif"/>
        <Mapping Match="HTML" DisplayName="Html" Image="html16.gif" />
        <Mapping Match="HTM" DisplayName="Htm" Image="html16.gif" />
      </Mappings>
      <Exclusions>
        <Exclusion Match="ASP%"/>
      </Exclusions>
    </Column>
