Sorry to dig up a thread from *years* ago, but I'm having the problem you described ... the fix above doesn't work for me. My managed property was already set to "include values from all." Is this something you've run into again and do you have an alternative fix? Thanks!

Looks like you are simply out of disk space... see line 2 --> There is not enough space on the disk.

I have never seen the following message and don't know how to fix it. Hope some one can help.

We are searching a very large file share (350,000+ files) and are trying to use faceted search to categorize the author, file type, etc. Depending on my search term(s), I'm getting results in the Search Core Results showing 40,000+ search results, but the Search Facets are only showing ~2900 results. I understand there is some difference between how they search, but that difference is too big to explain away. I have changed the 'Select Columns for Facets' property to 32000. But that hasn't seemed to help. We are using the SharePoint 2007 with the latest version of Faceted Search available for download (2.5.x).

When you have multiple servers in your farm should you install the Enterprise Library assemblies on the Index server, all web front ends, all excel services application server, or all servers in the farm?

Also,

If I have multiple farms pointing to the same SQL server how do I change the facted search cache database name? Can multiple farms share the same cache db?

I've seen a couple of posts asking about functionality in SP2010. I know there is a search refinement feature but my questions are

1. Does the std 2010 functionality pretty much replace Faceted Search and if not how does it differ?

2. Does Faceted Search work at all in 2010 (if we are doing a 2007 to 2010 migration for instance should we expect it to work. If we should are there known issues or should we expect a reasonably painless migration wrt this feature)?

Hi all,

We have been using MOSS Faceted Search in our production environment for months with no problems. However, after several application pool crashes last week, Microsoft support has been involved and identified that the crash is caused while rendering the Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch.WebControls.SearchFacets control used by the Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.ExtendedSearch.Common.WPManager.

The root cause seems to be the CreateChildControls() method. It also seems that the exception is handled but Microsoft suspects that the crashing of the process is caused rather by the mechanism that is supposed to handle the exception than by the exception itself

Closing the Faceted Search web parts solves the problem, however, as this provides an important feature in our SharePoint solution we hope that there is someone in the community that might give us some pointers on how to solve this issue or proceed.

Any input/suggestions about the underlying root cause is appreciated.

It's possible that you are missing some of the web.config changes. If you are running multiple SharePoint web applications then web.config will need to be modified for each that you want to use faceted search on. Ensure that you have the exceptionPolicies defined and that mscorlib is correctly referenced. Cheers

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. I was actually redirected to this thread from another post I put here. Copied the 3.1 dlls to the GAC but now back to my original error message.

Hi Eldorado,

It's failing to find the version 3.1 of Enterprise Library which is required for Faceted Search 2.5. My previous advice about "no need to follow the first part of the V2.5 install instructions i.e. don't register the 3.1 enterprise library objects" was if you were implementing Facted Serach 3.0 (which I think has been pulled). If implementing Facted Search 2.5 then you do need to follow the install instructions and register the 3.1 entlib objects.

Unfortunately this hasn't worked for me.

Only have the 4.0..... dll's in the GAC, removed the lines from web.config that were inserted according to the install guide and trying to add the Facet Search webpart I now get the following error -

Unable to add selected web part(s)

Search Facets: Could not load file of assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.ExceptionHandling, Version=3.1.00, Culture-neutral, PublicKeyToken=a646907c4a695009 or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Hello Codeplex team,

After I installed Facetes Search version 2.5 successfully in my moss server, then I add the web part and get an error: "Search Factes: The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.ExceptionHandling.ExceptionPolicy' threw an exception". In GAC, Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.ExceptionHandling.dll existed, and I also changed value of trust level to Full in my web.config but I cannot resolve this issue. Could you please support me to resolve this?
