Please list the search scopes you have in the SSP >> Search Admin. You might mouse over ! sign to see the error.

I have just installed 3.0 and I am getting the exact error. 3.0 did fix a paging issue, but this problems has come up.

On my site, I have 4 scopes which show up in the advanced search webpart as check boxes. On my results page, I have the faceted search webpart and the search bread crumbs webpart. When I submit an advanced search without selecting scopes, the search is successful and the results are displayed in a search core results webpart. But when I submit an advanced search with a scope selected, I get the same error displayed in the "search.jpg". 2.5 does not have this behavior. I just uploaded and installed 3.0 this Tuesday.

The coming build will have extra logging for scopes.

Does this occur when you select 'All Sites" scope? What happens if you select non-default scope?

minhoncan wrote Jul 26, 2009 at 10:47 PM

Hi Leonidly,

I get the error if i select any of the non-default search scopes. I don't get error when select "All Sites".

Thanks for your help.

leonidly wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 4:38 AM

Scopes are cached in the Application variables. If the scope created after appdomain started, it will be missed. The event log will show the error details though

minhoncan wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 5:56 AM

Hi Leonidly,

This is the event log i got:

Message: There is no explicit mapping for the categories 'Faceted Search Logging'. The log entry was:
Timestamp: 26/07/2009 10:47:52 PM
Message: Discovered and cached 15 search scopes.
Category: Faceted Search Logging

Is there a way to clear the cache?

Thanks a lot for your help.

minhoncan wrote Jul 27, 2009 at 6:02 AM

Hi Leonidly,

Just for more info on my previous post. There are only 4 scopes for the site but the log says 15 scopes so does it mean it still cache some other old scopes?

Also can you please clarify what you mean by "appdomain started"?

Thanks so much

leonidly wrote Aug 1, 2009 at 5:06 AM

Rebooot will definitely clear cache. Please specify what language packs you have installed and what are the regional settings. Also check what is the default scope name in the Search Facets web part Scope property.

minhoncan wrote Aug 7, 2009 at 2:23 AM

Hi Leonidly,

We restarted the server but still it is still not fixed. We use English (Australia). When we installed it, the default scope was "All Sites"; however, we changed it to custom scopes called "All", "Intranet", "Shared Drives".

We also tried to upgrade to the latest version 3.0.073109.0 which has the fix for"Enforce of refresh for cached scopes in Edit mode" but still no luck!!!

What else should we do? Please help.

Thanks,

What's the Url when you run "All Sites" search from home page?

minhoncan wrote Aug 11, 2009 at 2:09 AM

Hi Leonidly,

The url is http://server/sites/enterprisesearch/pages/default.aspx

Thanks for your help.

I have similar issue with 3.0 Advanced Search and Incorrect Scope displayed for Faceted Bread Crumb.
Advanced Search Results and Facets are always correct whether if I select a scope or use the property picker, but the Faceted Bread Crumb displays either “!” or a Scope that was not selected.
Facets are using the "All Manuals and Circulars" Scope. Tried using "All Sites" Scope (It is the same as "All Manuals and Circulars"), but same issue with Bread Crumbs.
I have attached file with Screen Shots of Configuration and Results...
Thanks,
Bob
